Even if you travel to the same place year after year, perspectives change with each age. Childhood, teenage, youth, as a couple, as a family and finally as a senior citizen – all the phases have their own charm. It might be extremely challenging to travel with young kids. Even if you have the most well-mannered children in the world, it is never easy. But we have some tips that will make travelling with kids stress-free. Gone are the times when entire trip plan revolves around your little one’s routine. Read on and thank us later.
#10 Packing Light
Packing judiciously is highly needed when travelling with kids, all worried mums and that includes me, tend to overpack for the smallest of trips. Just make a list of what you might need, including how many pairs of clothes and socks. For toddlers and above, let them carry their own bags, rather pull their own bags, giving them responsibilities will make them feel important and less cranky!
#9 Travelling in Flight
For first time travellers, flight journey can be harrowing. Always carry things to engage the child when flying. If you have a toddler, make them suck on candies when the flight is taking off or landing so that their ears do not get blocked. For older kids pack drawing sheets and crayons or activity books for long hauls.
#8 Carry a Tablet/ Keep the Activities coming
Kids need to be engaged all the time, hence, download apps and games for them to play, or videos for them to watch aboard on flights.
#7 Keep Their Favourite Snacks Handy
If the kids can not play, at least, have their snacks in your bag. Munching something tasty and healthy always helps, especially if you are on a trip that needs walking or physical activity. Could be their favourite drink as well. Often, when travellign to a new country, that particular snack might not be available, in that case make sure you carry a few packs and use them when they are being exceptionally naughty or cranky.
#6 Find Kid-friendly Attractions
Choose a destination wisely. Make sure there are some kid-friendly attractions in the vicinity. Theme Parks for smaller kids and museums for older ones.
#5 Travel Journal For Older Kids
For older kids, ask them to keep a journal where they can note down what they are seeing, what they liked most etc. It will be exciting to read them later at home and the kids can share it at schools too.
#4 Save presents From Birthdays And Give Them On A Trip
Getting something new when on a trip, make the kids happy and keep them active. That way parents can get some rest, after a hectic day. Because remember, even if the day has been tiring for you, it might not be that great for your little one, so keep things to engage them at the hotel, or where you are staying .
#3 Get Goodies In Flight
Almost all flight will have some toys, stickers, drawing sheets, crayons etc for kids. It is hard for the little ones to stay in one place. So these goodies help definitely. Ask for it if you have not got it.
#2 Check What Kind Of Vaccinations You Will Need
If travelling to a new country, check if your kids will need vaccinations. Some countries are Malaria prone and the kids would need special vaccinations before travelling. Check with your child’s physician when planning.
