1. Marve Beach
Popular with visitors mostly out for a day at the beach, Marve is pretty close and easily accessible. Known for hosting full moon parties and attracting scores of visitors from all around Mumbai, this beach is great for a picnic and even an overnight stay on the shore itself. Be sure to carry your camping gear and you swim suit too; swimming here is safe and early morning dip can be revitalizing.

2. Uttan Beach
Just under a two-hour drive from Mumbai city is a pristine and secluded beach; The Uttan beach has over the years seen more and more resorts pop-up around the area but if living on the beach itself is your idea of luxury then grab your tent and sleeping bag and head down. Surrounded by tiny villages and restaurants, you don’t need to carry much.

3. Kihim Beach
One of the most popular beaches around Alibaug, Kihim beach, is situated close to the Mandwa village too. Accessible by ferry up to Alibaug and merely 10km from the bus depot, the clean sandy shores with rocky stretches make trekking along the coastline exciting and a unique experience.
Pitch tent and go exploring the nearby Underi and Khanderi Forts or just barbecue on the beach with friends is all you need to be fulfilled at this heavenly location. Swimmers, watch out for rocks in some areas of the water.

4. Revdanda Beach

6. Murud Beach
Murud is a small coastal village in Dapoli. Well known for its adventure water sports and dolphin watching, Murud beach attracts thousands of visitors during the year. Explore some of the small islands around or the Janjira Fort. This tropical paradise, surrounded by coconut groves is a perfect location to pitch tent and spend an entire day. You don’t need to carry much as plenty of shops and restaurants are in the vicinity.

7. Kashid Beach
A little further ahead of Alibaug is Kashid. Famous for its white sandy beach and crystal clear waters, this part of the Arabian Sea coastline is surrounded by Casuarina trees and small shacks in their shade for hire.

8. Dahanu And Bordi
With quick access by train, the twin black sand beaches, Dahanu and Bordi are merely 10 minutes from Gholvad Railway Station. Interconnected to form a beautiful 15km shoreline, these beaches are environmentally protected areas and have remained pristine.
Watch the turtles come in to nest just before the monsoon hits or take a camel ride; miles of chikoo plantations surround the coastline making the lush green behind you and the horizon in front the perfect campsite.

9. Diveagar Beach
A favorite with weekenders, Diveagar beach boasts a 6km coast line with crystal clear waters and white sand shores. Scores of seagulls, dolphins and turtles can be spotted in this environmentally protected area and the local fishing villages offer great food at reasonable prices.
Camping at this beach could not be a more perfect setting but the waters are not conducive for swimming as the shore is rather rocky.

10. Harihareshwar Beach
A sight to behold, Harihareshwar beach, in the Raigad district, is magnificently nestled between four hills and boasts a most unique topography along it coast. Temples in the surrounding areas are great to explore as are the hills for some trekking too.
Resorts and hotels are quite abundant however camping here will wow you more than any resort can hope. Carry your camera; there is a lot to see and plenty of photo opportunities.

11. Anjarle Beach
Another prime example of Maharashtra’s beautiful coast is Anjarle Beach in Ratnagiri. Endless coconut groves, clear blue waters and sandy white shores make this 2-kilometre waterfront a dream beach camping spot.
Safe waters means loads of fun in the ocean and lots of fresh local seafood that is made in the famous and delicious Malvani style. An overnight stay on the beach is a must if you carry your camping equipment and a dip in the ocean at sunrise will give you peace to carry back to the city.

12. Guhagar Beach
A little ahead of Ganpatipule, close to Chiplun, is one of Ratnagiri’s most pristine beaches. Just a couple of hundred meters from Guhagar Bus Stand is Guhagar Beach.
Amazing waters make for some fantastic snorkeling and reef watching. Camping here is a great option as there are not many hotels or shacks but be sure to carry your gear. The food here in the surrounding fishing villages is to die for and the waters along the 6km shore are warm and inviting.

13. Aare Ware Beach
Merely 9 kilometres from Ganapatipule, is another beautiful beach. Equally pristine and even more secluded than its famous cousin, Aare Ware Beach is everything Ganapatipule is and perhaps a little more.
The 3-kilometre shoreline is not crowded and makes for an ideal campground away from the hustle and bustle of commercialism. Camping overnight is an experience that will leave you rested and at peace. Local restaurants serve some awesome Malvani food.

14. Ganapatipule Beach
Along the Konkan coast in the region of Ratnagiri is a pristine white sand beach. Ganapatipule beach has earned a reputation over the last few years for being one of the cleanest beaches close to Mumbai thanks to efforts by the Maharashtra Tourism Board.
Come during the mango season in the summer and enjoy the king of all fruit at its best and be sure to try the local Malvani cuisine. Camp out on the beach overnight and watch the sunrise before heading out…it is absolutely magical.

15. Devgad Beach
Nestled between two hills and with spectacular greenery all around the shore, Devgad Beach is secluded and serene. Although a little further away from the city, Devgad is only 100 kilometres from Ratnagiri, famous for its Alphonso Mangoes and Konkan cuisine.
The extremely clean beach sees its fair share of activities but never gets too crowded and offers a few options for exploring too, such as the Devgad Fort, the lighthouse and of course swimming. Camping here is great fun and many groups can be seen pitching tent over the weekends mostly.
