Early this year Treebo took the initiative to give the joy of travel to 33 less privileged children from Mysore. Check out our blog here for more details. Treebo takes it to another level as we empower the woman of tomorrow in the second edition of Junior Checks In II.
Learn more about how Junior Checks In II happened:
We believe that women must be celebrated 365 days of the year and a little more on Women’s Day! As a result, Treebo took this opportunity to empower 25 girls from a Delhi NGO, CHETNA and give them the gift of travel.
These kids all between the age of 8 to 15 years are from a slum in Delhi.
For most of them, it was not only a first-time travel, but also their first time in an air conditioned bus.
Day 1:
Bus to Jaipur:
The bunch of girls along with 5 teachers and one caretaker boarded the bus and started their journey to Jaipur.
The happiness and excitement writ large on their faces, and it turned to pure ecstasy when they found they were entitled to a bag of goodies each. The motion sickness that affected some couldn’t dwindle their joy. The journey was long, and they had their breakfast and lunch on the bus.
Thus started a sojourn of many firsts.
Check-In at Treebo:
Upon reaching Jaipur, they checked into the beautiful heritage hotel Treebo Khandwa Haveli. True to the rituals of the kings, they were welcomed regally with tika, welcome drinks, and bangles.
Staying at a hotel like this was a novelty for them and it didn’t take them long to run all around and explore their rooms and the hotel too. The soft white beds, western style toilets and neatly arranged toiletries were stuff they saw on television.
Inspiring talk:
After being refreshed and fed they had the first activity of the trip. A self-esteem and wellness session with Charnita Arora, a well-being coach and founder at Perfect Life Spot and mentor at Sheroes. A talk about self-esteem was necessary to perk them up and ready them for the real world.
At the Resort:
After the session came the happiest part of the day! A visit to the Kanchan Kesari Village Resort. An array of shows and entertainment awaited them there. There were puppet shows, magic shows and a circus too.
But girls will be girls! They grooved to the beats of traditional dance. They danced along with the performers and enjoyed a lot, as well as worked up an appetite for what followed next. A delectable, authentic Rajasthani dinner.
It was a a night to remember and for the little minds to cherish forever.
Day 2:
The next morning started on a great note with a lavish breakfast spread that is a standard Treebo offering. The tiny hands worked fast as the parathas, breads, eggs and fruits vanished from their plates. What followed was a very important lesson for today’s woman.
Self defense:
A session on self-defense techniques by Dr Garima and Sensei Gaurav Singh from Jaipur Karate Academy. The hour-long session taught them some great tricks to keep safe. Thus the trip came to an end.
They checked out from their hotels and boarded the bus and a surprise yet again. The bus took them around the city to see the famous historical monuments of Jaipur.
Unforgettable journey:
Travel teaches like no other. To let these young and innocent girls see that there is a huge world waiting outside for them, is a big leap. We believe that this experience helped them know about a new place, see the local culture and learn something different.
We feel honored to have served these aspiring young women, in however small a way possible. These little girls will definitely go on to become strong and free-willed individuals in the future.
