History
Subhash Chandra Bose was born into a privileged family to Janakinath and Prabhavati Dutt in Cuttack of Orissa on the 23rd of January 1897. He was a brilliant scholar and stood second in Matriculation and fourth in the Indian Civil Services exam. In 1921, he left his ICS post and moved back to his country from England to join the movement for freedom. He was one of the pillars of the freedom struggle for Indian Independence. He first joined the Indian National Congress and founded a government in exile named Azad Hind, and headed the Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) to fight against the British Empire.
His socialist ideology was proficient in inculcating the feeling of nationalism within young minds so that they could achieve independence. In 1942, during the time of World War II, he managed to bring together as many as 50,000 soldiers from Southeast Asia and initiated a campaign, ‘Delhi Chalo.’ He also created a new political party named “The Forward Bloc” for his home state Bengal. He was also known to have suffered from third-degree burns on August 18, 1945, due to an aircraft crash near Taihoku, Japanese Taiwan, none of his body parts were found. Till now, the mystery and controversy regarding his demise remains unresolved. The Indian government declared him dead in the year 2017.
