Treebo Hotels Creates World Record for Largest Christmas Celebrations on Same Day.
The season of joy, giving and celebration brought in the best present Treebo could ever ask for! – a place in World Records India! We have been awarded a trophy, certificate and a medal for creating a record for the Largest Christmas Celebration on Same Day (Multiple Venues/Cities). We have also filed a nomination with the Limca Book of records and India Book of Records and the evaluation is under process.
Where?
One of our core Treebo Values is “We are only as good as our last stay.” and with the advent of #TreeboHangouts, this now, turned into “We are only as good as the last delight.” Brains were storming with ideas and just then, the sound of chiming bells wafted in the air. An idea struck! What better time than “Christmas” to do something large-scale, unique and out of the box?
The sorting hat was commenced and a planning committee came into force mid-December. Another Treebo value knocked on the doors “Do More with Less,” it said. It was going to be a herculean task to delight each one of the guests staying at the 200+ properties in 40 cities, with an average of 25 rooms per property. Not to mention the quality had to be as per the standards.
What?
We had called forth our delight partners in crime “Innerchef” and gave them a single-lined brief. Please find us the most economical way to delight a plethora of guests. After several hours of pulling their hair and some people balding even, they had finalised on the Christmas mandate, Plum Cake and Home-Made Ginger Wine* or any beverage available.
A “Best Out Of Waste” competition was announced, where, at individual hotel-level, staff had to create a Christmas Tree out of scratch. Be it bottles, scrap metal, newspapers, hangers etc. Most hotels had actively participated.
Special thanks to our Treebo Orchard Suites owner Mr Neil who helped us with procuring Ginger wine across our Bangalore Hotels.
How?
It is time for the villain in the story to enter: Logistics. Sadly, our delight partners were only present in the major cities while Treebo was present in 40+ cities. With the help of the city teams, local vendors were procured. As a matter of fact, our own Treebs dawned the super-hero cape and flew to these small cities to deliver a heavy package of Christmas goodies.
An action plan was decided upon on a con call with all the GMs of all the cities. The aim was to monitor the operational effectiveness without hindering the Christmas spirit or the unique delight, among other nuances.
“Everything was planned perfectly and very well organised. It took us all day from 6 am to 2 pm to set up everything across our Hyderabad properties on the D-Day. Everything from the breakfast, Santa Claus, Cakes were meticulously planned and carefully carried out. The Christmas Cakes were really yummy. The staff enjoyed the whole process.” – Siddharth Rai, QAH, Hyderabad Cluster
The D-Day
The D-Day arrived and the plan was executed to the T. All the participant guests were extremely happy and embraced the celebratory mood. Not just the guests but the staff too had a gala time! The synergy was the same across Treebo Hotels on the same day.
Though it happens every day in some or the other way, for the first time it felt like Treebo was functioning parallelly. It was an affair to remember! Guests along with the staff members across Treebo ended up playing games, chatting away and basking in the celebrations.
“The entire team, including the ground staff at each hotel, participated with great gusto and enthusiasm. In-house guests really appreciated the idea. Participation and enthusiasm among Treebs, staff members, partners (who were present) and above all guests was much beyond expectation. Yuletide spirit really caught on.” – Abhijit Paul, GM, Kolkata Cluster
Cherry on Top
The event was a grand success across 170+ properties. So much so that we have filed a nomination with the Limca Book of records. Our quality manager Abinab from Ahmedabad had suggested that no other chain of hotels has done anything similar till date. After verifying all relevant facts, submissions were made and we are awaiting the evaluation. Additionally, we had also contacted IWR (India World Records) to register this record.
To our absolute delight, we have been felicitated with this record from the prestigious WRI (World Records India) in the Nomination Category: Largest Christmas Celebration in Multiple Venues on a Single Day (December 24th).
Delighted we stand
Our admin, Mr Vivek Chowhan helped us get in touch with gazetted officer for the nominations. She too had visited one of our properties in Bangalore, Treebo Cartier and witnessed the celebrations in all its shine. From the smile on her face, she seemed pretty convinced. The tedious process also demanded pictures and in came a flood of them. To which, co-founder Siddharth Gupta said:
“Seeing all these beautiful Christmas pictures flowing in from various properties is filling my heart with joy, and pride. This is such fantastic work. Love how so many of you are going out of your way to put a smile on every guest’s face. And the best part is, it clearly seems to be putting a smile on your faces too. Really well done!” -Siddharth Gupta, Co-founder.
Truly Merry Christmas
How else can we sum up the craziness that had gone by? The Christmas spirit spread its love and glory in all our hearts – employees, hotel staff, guests and onlookers alike. With this in mind, here’s to many more amazing and awesome delights. Above all, the amazing efforts of the PGD Team, city teams, staff and everyone who was involved is commendable. Watch out for the testimonials on Social Media.
To top it off, not just us, even one of our guests won a world record with WRI. We had hosted Mr Boniface Prabhu at one of our Hyderabad properties, Treebo Strawberry during his World Record Stint. He holds the record for the Longest Car Expedition by a Person with Disability (Quadraplegic). You can check out the details of the record here.
We are so proud that we played a small part in Mr Prabhu’s endeavours and would love to host him again!
