Distance from Jaipur
Bhangarh is located about 83 kilometres away from Jaipur. You can get there comfortably by road, by either taking a taxi or a bus. A taxi is a quick and safe option, buses are not too frequent, you might have to wait for hours to get a bus to Bhangarh from Jaipur.
How to get to Bhangarh from Jaipur
Bus
This is the cheapest option to get to Bhangarh, but it is the longest. You can take a bus from Jaipur bus station to Thanagazi or the Dausa bus stations. If you are getting down at Dausa, you can walk to the fort, it takes about 20 minutes to get there. From Thanagazi, you need to take a taxi to Bhangarh.
You might want to note that the frequency of buses is not frequent, so you will either need to be sure of timings or have loads of patience.
Taxi
The best way to get to Bhangarh is by hiring a private cab. Taxis charge around Rs. 3000 for a return journey from Jaipur to Bhangarh. You will also need to pay tolls along the way.
You could bargain on the fare, of course. If you are travelling solo, you can hail a sharing cab from Jaipur bus station; however, you may have to wait for all the seats to be taken up.
The Best Time to Visit Bhangarh Fort
Summers are hot on most days, but you do have occasions when the climate is pleasant. Monsoons are a complete no-no; the humidity rises to high levels during the brief rainy season and the rain can be pretty heavy.
The best time to visit is between the months of November to February. The weather is pleasant which means, you can comfortably tour the place at your own pace.
Bhangarh at Night
Although nothing has been proven, it is said that paranormal activities occur regularly in the nights at the Bhangarh Fort. This is the reason locals have called this place one of the scariest places in India.
Tourist guides and locals will often warn you about venturing into the fort’s premises post 7 pm. In fact, the Archaeological Survey of India has a disclaimer at the gates of the fort warning tourists and visitors from venturing into the premises at night.

Horror Stories of Bhangarh Fort
1. The Legend of Bala Nath
Legend has it that King Madho Singh got the land where the fort was built from a sage named Bala Nath. The saint granted the king permission under the condition that the fort’s shadow should not fall over the sage’s house.
The king agreed and the fort was built. However, as the king expanded the fort, a portion of its shadow fell onto Bala Nath’s home and it is said that since that day the fort has been cursed.
2. The Curse of the Black Magician
Locals say that a black magician was smitten by Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh. He did all he could to get her to like him, including putting a spell on her. Not one to be outsmarted, Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh smelt a rat and caught the magician. She turned his spell around and he was crushed under a boulder.
It is said that just before he died, the black magician cursed the land and it said that his curse still haunts the land.
3. The Curse of the Land
Another legend says that strange things began to happen in Bhangarh and the entire city was wiped out. It is said that the souls of the dead often roam the fort and its premises at night. This could be one of the reasons why entry to the fort is restricted.
There have been stories of strange things happening at the fort and within its premises with a few tourists and locals giving testimonies. From strange sounds to a feeling of being followed and even strange shadows being spotted, people have actually seen weird things happen in Bhangarh.
Although you might not be able to witness the horror and paranormal activities that go on at the fort at night, you can actually hear from tour guides about tales that can literally scare you.
