This led him to think of creating something similar in Delhi in a sustainable manner.
Initially, the idea was to create huge replicas with bricks, inspired by the previous project Waste to Art in Delhi. However, a unique idea emerged! The commissioner and other authorities decided to create something extraordinary with scrap materials. This initiative would not only be sustainable but also inspire artists across the globe.
SDMC made a smart decision by placing the monuments away from each other in Waste to Wonder Park, unlike the ones in Kota where they are placed in a series. There are several trees between the structures for visitors to fully enjoy the experience and appreciate the creation. This is how the eco-friendly park came into existence. What you see today is a collaborative effort of SDMC, artists, and people involved in the creation of the park.
Replicas of Seven Wonders of the World in Waste to Wonder Park
1. Statue of Liberty (USA)
How can you miss the famous Statue of Liberty located in the United States? You can now witness a 35-foot-tall replica of the statue right here. Waste to Wonder Park is home to this statue made by a Delhi-based artist named Zakir.
Old pipes have been cleverly used to create the pedestal. Similarly, car rims and metal railings are used to create a brick-like structure. You might be shocked to know that the hair of statues is made with cycle chains. MCD benches and metal scrap are used to create the other elements of the statue.
2. Christ the Redeemer (Brazil)
Christ the Redeemer is another popular statue in the Waste to Wonder Park. This statue was created by a Vadodara-based artist named Shubham. The excellent creation is made with scrap and you’ll be surprised to know the details. The pedestal is made with square pipes of the benches.
Creativity transcends here as electric poles have been used to create the lower part of the statue. Similarly, different parts of the engines are used to create hands and other body parts. Hair is made with motorbike chains. It is indeed thrilling to witness such thoughtful construction ideas.
3. Eiffel Tower (France)
One of the romantic wonders of the world can be found right here at the Waste to Wonder Park. The Eiffel Tower is an iconic creation by Vadodara-based artist Sandip Pisalkar. Surprisingly, the statue is made with around 40 tons of waste generated from the automobile industry.
Not only car parts but also many other elements such as clutch plates and petrol tanks from trucks were used in making this statue. Furthermore, the statue was not created all at once. The three floors were built separately to ensure perfection. They were later assembled with the assistance of a crane.
4. Taj Mahal (India)
People love to witness the Taj Mahal as it narrates the stories of love between Mumtaz and Shah Jahan. That’s exactly what you can find in the Waste to Wonder Park. The replica of the popular Taj Mahal is known for its amazing architecture. More than 1500 cycle rings were used to create the structure. You are sure to doubt if it was made with scrap because of its beauty.
However, electric pole pipes, swings and benches were also utilised for the construction. Imagine the unique usage of old pans which you see in the kitchen were used to make something so marvellous! Truck sheets are used for detailing the structure with intricate designs, doors and windows.
5. Colosseum (Italy)
Located in the heart of Italy, the Colosseum is a super important monument of beauty. It is an enormous amphitheatre made with stones. Originally located in Rome, the historically famous structure was a gift from Emperor Vespasian to the people of Rome. Electric waste including poles and automobile spare parts was used to create this gorgeous structure.
Metal railings were also utilised for further detailing. What’s so interesting about the Colosseum in Waste to Wonder Park? Around 400 car wheels are smartly used to give it a perfect arch. Now, this is surely a place you must visit!
6. Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy)
Here is another wonder of the world from Italy which is literally leaning towards the Earth. Yes, the replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa finds its special place here. It is a 39-foot-tall replica attracting visitors to witness the magnificent construction. The structure was made by a Tamil Nadu-based artist named Ram Kumar.
You might not know, however, perfectly 211 arches are spread throughout the structure. The eight storeys have been constructed using cycle rims. To give it a natural look, metal sheets are used to give it a lustre amidst the arches. Metal sheets and other materials have also been used to replicate the look of pillars.
7. Pyramid of Giza (Egypt)
Who doesn’t wish to travel to the great pyramids? After all, these Pyramids are super mysterious with their construction and existence too. You now have an opportunity to visit Waste to Wonder Park only to witness the architectural beauty of the Pyramid of Giza.
This structure is made by Vadodara-based artist Patra Pijush Patra. It is a 110-layer structure that surely replicates the real pyramid. Conservation Efforts and Environment Consciousness
- While the park uses recycled materials, even the washroom is made with an old shipping container painted with vibrant colours.
- Solar panels are installed on the top of the container leading to a renewable source of energy.
- The park also has three solar-powered trees ideal for storing and using the energy.
- A windmill is installed to generate electricity thereby using the natural wind to reduce costs.
- 28 KW of power is generated via solar and wind energy initiatives. The park consumes around 15-20 KW of power. The surplus would be stored in the grid for future usage.

- Only 5 artists and 7 supporting artists were involved in the construction of beautiful elements of the park.
- Without utilising the high-end materials, the features of the park were instead built with 150 tons of scrap.
- A maximum of only 70 welders and helpers were involved in the complete construction and beautification of the park.
