Known to house the critically endangered Gharial, the National Chambal Sanctuary is among famous the wildlife sanctuaries near Delhi. Located on the Chambal River, this wildlife sanctuary also houses mugger, turtles, otter, and freshwater dolphins.
One of the best experiences at this wildlife sanctuary is of boating in its tranquil waters during the winter season.

Situated near the hill station of the Mussoorie, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of the famous Rajaji National Park. This sanctuary has a wide variety of the animals including sambhar, cheetah, blue bull, leopard, hyena and wild cats. Set up on the banks of the river Ganga, this sanctuary is quite a good option for the wildlife parks near Delhi that can be visited over a weekend.
